THANKS:
As a general matter, a married straight white Christian American 21st Century male has so much to be thankful for that we come to be a bit jaded by the whole notion of thanksgiving. But yesterday at work I wished a friend a Happy Thanksgiving in a nearly perfunctory way and a few minutes later as he was passing by he said : "Hey, Orrin, give those kids a hug for me."Only then did it occur to me that this is yet another Thanksgiving Day that he'll be wiuthout the son he lost in a car accident several years ago.
It was a poignant but useful reminder that we should never loose sight of how blessed we are.
May you and yours have much to be thankful for this year and may you all pause, however briefly, to realize it.
When we pause today, we'll certain think upon all the readers, commenters and correspondents who have graced this site over the increasingly many years.
