IT HARDLY MATTERS WHERE YOU DO YOUR TWO HOURS OF WORK A DAY:
Research shows teleworking has revenue benefits (Nina Hendy, April 4, 2013, Sydney Morning Herald)
Research by accounting software firm MYOB has found the revenue of small businesses that allow their staff to telework was more likely to have risen in the last year than businesses that don't allow teleworking.According to the research small businesses whose employees worked remotely most or all of the time were 24 per cent more likely to have had a revenue rise in the past year. Twenty-one per cent of firms that allow teleworking had a lift in revenue over the last 12 months, compared to 17 percent of businesses whose staff work only in the office.Teleworking is defined as work performed away from a business's main office. It offers benefits to businesses and employees. According to research sponsored by the Federal government employees who work from home have, on average, an extra hour to themselves each day, leading to improved work/life balance.Employers who offer telework also find it easier to attract staff outside their local area. Teleworkers are also more productive than their office-based counterparts. Research by Macquarie University into the rising trend of teleworking found that most employees work more intensely away from an office.
