DECADE? IT'S BEEN NEARLY A CENTURY:

Tim Pawlenty: The Latest Dangerous Neoconservative (Doug Bandow, July 5, 2011, National Interest)

Republicans have spent a decade as the party of war. In fact, since President George W. Bush abandoned his call for a “humble foreign policy” the country has not been at peace. Now former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has unabashedly raised the neoconservative banner.

It's obviously inane to think of Abraham Lincoln, the first warrior Republican president, as a neoconservative, but it is true that the party was somewhat isolationist prior to WWII. Since then though it has again been the war party. Having liberated blacks, Western Europe, and Eastern Europe it now merely seeks to liberate the Muslim world. It's all of a piece.
