PERHAPS THE GREATEST SCREEN CRAWL IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION RAN HERE ON SUNDAY...:

The white stuff: What's hot when it's cold: The wintry weather is changing our spending habits, finds Stephen McGinty, who lists what's hot when it's cold (Stephen McGinty, 1/06/10, The Scotsman)

THE air is so cold that our hands are curled into a claw before we can even reach for our wallets and purses, but that aside, just how is the bone-chilling winter weather affecting us icicle-draped consumers?

Well, we certainly haven't seized up, but we appear to be favouring the warm comfort of the out-of-town malls over the ice-rink pavements of our High Streets. "We're also more likely to pop down to our local shops – the handy butcher or baker could really benefit from this cold snap," said Professor Cary Cooper, an occupational psychologist. "These snow showers could be great for renewing our sense of community."

...during the football game on CBS from Burlington: "The brunt of the winter storm that has hit the area has now passed...though 3 to 6 inches of snow are likely the rest of the day."
