ISN'T THE QUESTION AT THIS POINT...:

The problem with Obama's speech to kids: It's bland (Jonathan Zimmerman, September 8, 2009, CS Monitor)

[T]hat's the real problem with the president's message, which will be broadcast live on the White House website and on C-SPAN: It's bland, neutral, and mind-numbingly obvious. You can't even imagine a cogent objection to it.

...after a bland keynote, a counter-productive defense of the Reverend Wright, a disappointing Berlin speech, a pointless Convention Speech, a forgettable Inaugural, a forgotten State of the Union, and a series of health care talks that have driven voters away, whether Mr. Obama is capable of giving a speech that isn't mind-numbing at best? It would be nice if we could blame his speechwriters, but he's supposedly deeply involved in these matters himself. This prosaic blandness seems an accurate reflection of the man.
