Senator John McCain of Arizona, President Obama’s Republican opponent in 2008, said he would vote against confirming Judge Sonia Sotomayor as a Supreme Court justice, despite what he called her high qualifications and inspiring life story.

Someone has to provide principled-seeming cover for the wahoos.
