Committee Delays Vote on Solis Nomination Following News About Taxes (Karoun Demirjian, 2/05/09, CQ)

Efforts to complete President Obama’s Cabinet faced another setback Thursday when a committee indefinitely delayed a vote on the nomination of Rep. Hilda L. Solis to be Labor secretary.

The delay came after media reports that Solis’ husband had recently settled several thousand dollars in outstanding tax liens against his auto repair business, and Republicans raised further questions about her work for a pro-labor group.


Is he assembling a cabinet or a chain gang?
