Committee OKs Jindal’s budget cuts (MICHELLE MILLHOLLON, 1/09/09, The Advocate)

Legislators agreed Friday to Gov. Bobby Jindal’s plan to eliminate a $341 million shortfall in the $30 billion state operating budget.

Lawmakers questioned parts of the proposal, especially cuts in the number of prescriptions for Medicaid recipients and the reduction of money for projects in legislators’ districts.

However, members of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget accepted the plan without objection.
