HERE'S WHERE RUDY SHOULD BE RUNNING:

Cameron's crime strategy is key, poll shows (Patrick Hennessy, 03/02/2008, Daily Telegraph)

The survey puts the Tories on 37 per cent, five points ahead of Labour on 32 per cent with the Liberal Democrats on 21 per cent. [...]

The most popular [issues], among both Tory and non-Tory supporters, was more police on the streets, followed by measures to force people to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Next came a reduction in the number of immigrants to Britain and allowing the police to hold terrorist suspects without charge for more than the current legal limit of 28 days.

Other measures, including allowing only English MPs to vote on English issues and offering a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, were backed by Conservative voters in considerably larger numbers than by non-Tories.

Cutting personal taxes featured relatively low on the priority lists - as did encouraging a move to personal health insurance schemes.

Tony Blair even set the precedent for a Catholic prime minister.
