TWO ON THE BRINK:

McCain takes N.H. lead; Obama, Clinton tie (Ben Smith and Jonathan Martin, Jan 5, 2008, Politico)

A new poll released by WMUR and the University of New Hampshire Saturday shows John McCain pulling into a lead over Mitt Romney in the Republican race and Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton in a tie on the Democratic side.

Among Republicans, McCain appears to have gained strength from Romney’s Iowa caucus loss and momentum through intensive campaigning here.

You'd have to think that both Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton face must wins here. He's gone, she may be.
