WHAT HAPPENS WHEN EDITORS ARE FIRED

Corny, Maddening But So Self-Assured (Alessandra Stanley, New York Times,
The real question is not why Senator Clinton put up with [Bill], but why she continues to put up with humiliating questions about her marriage and personal life after so many years of scrutiny, mockery and investigation?

I dunno, maybe for an $8 million book advance and free publicity?

A politician's wife who only a few years ago seemed to have been dealt out of the game, Mrs. Clinton now seems like the winning player in her husband's favorite card game, hearts. She started with the jack of diamonds, then couldn't dodge the queen of spades. As her many political enemies watch aghast as she moves inexorably from the Senate floor to the television studios dotting her book tour, Mrs. Clinton appears to be sweeping up every trick.

Ms. Stanley: Read over your compositions, and wherever you meet with a passage which you think is particularly fine, strike it out!
