WHEN DOVES CRY:

Roll Call Vote in House on Iraq Resolution (THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, 10/10/02)
The 296-133 roll call Thursday by which the House voted for a resolution to authorize President Bush to use military force in Iraq.

A "yes" vote is a vote to approve the resolution.

Voting yes were 81 Democrats and 215 Republicans.

Voting no were 126 Democrats, six Republicans and one independent.

This is truthfully not meant to be pejorative--who knows, the "nos" may prove to be right in the long run--but it's startling just how thoroughly the Democrat Party is dominated by doves now. By my horrible math that looks like 60% of the Democrats opposed a resolution to force Saddam Hussein, who is in obvious violation, to comply with the terms of a peace treaty he negotiated with us a decade ago. As the war on terror/radical Islam continues, and it will, there will be no clearer case than this one, where an avoweed enemy is openly violating the law. Had this resolution come to the floor last October it would have probably had at least 80% support from Democrats, but in just one year they've nearly reverted back to their post-Vietnam norm.
