I thought about writing a column, but didn't,

based on my vacation on the Mainland, where

the prosperity is simply incredible. Two years

ago I was amazed. Now it is even better.

In San Diego, people were waiting 20 minutes

at a 347-seat restaurant for the privilege of

paying $35 for a sandwich.

I imagined Republican strategists pleading,

"Please, Mr. Dimmycrat, doan throw me in

that economic briar patch, please, please doan."
