Just heard a really interesting ad for Rep. Charlie Bass (R, NH). He's running against Katrina Swett, daughter of Rep. Tom Lantos (D, CA) and wife of the improbably named former Rep. Dick Swett (Against whom, I always thought the GOP should have used the slogan : "We want a congressman, not a body function"). Apparently she's raised 95% of her campaign dollars from out of state. So the ad is an imitation game show where NY and CA are trying to see who can give most, as the liberals on the coasts buy another congressional seat. The interesting part is that they "accuse" her of receiving money from Steve Spielberg and David Geffen. If you ever wanted to understand the difference between Red and Blue states there it is in a nutshell. In a Blue state you'd want those guys appearing in your ad, in a Red state their support is a badge of shame.
