NAFTA NOW! :
EU leader attacks Britain over links with United States (Ambrose Evans-Pritchard and George Jones, 30/04/2002, Daily Telegraph)"I wonder what makes this great nation so confident when dealing with a vastly more powerful nation over 3,000 miles away, but afraid to play a full part in shaping the future of the continent to which it belongs," [Romano Prodi, the president of the European Commission] told the Said Business School in Oxford.Mr. Prodi dismissed suggestions that Britain's "special relationship" with the US gave it extra leverage in the world.
Afraid? What the heck is Mr. Prodi talking about? Don't Britain's links to America represent a realistic understanding that we are the final guarantor of their freedom (making their battles our own in WWI, WWII, and the Cold War) and never ask anything of them in return?
It's long past time for Britain to bail out of the EU, recognize that it is much more a part of the Anglosphere than of Europe, and join NAFTA.
