MONTHS, NOT YEARS:

ISRAEL ACKNOWLEDGES ROADMAP NOT LINKED TO PA (Middle East News Line, 1/08/04)

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has pledged to the United States that he will help establish an interim Palestinian state in 2004 regardless of whether the Palestinian Authority ends the more than three-year-old war with the Jewish state and eliminates insurgency groups.

Israeli officials said Sharon relayed such a commitment to President George Bush in late 2003.

Sharon is essentially declaring the Palestinian leaderless leadership to be irrelevant to anything.

Pretty gutsy move, that Bush would have to admire.

John:

Bush made him do it--that's what the Roadmap is all about--statehood on a schedule, regardless of anything else

Anyone taking bets on when the first Palestinian protest about STOPPING the statehood will occur? Will they have mad car rushes (as shown on LGF)? Will they burn their own flag? Will they pile up garbage (like in Chicago)? Will they burn their ID cards? News at 11:00.
