Will House Whip Scalise Disavow David Duke's Latest Claim About Him? (BRIAN TASHMAN, FEBRUARY 11, 2015, American Prospect)
Duke said that he consistently won "over 60 percent of the popular vote in [Scalise's] congressional district" in his various campaigns for elected office, and therefore people who condemn Scalise "for meeting with me or voting for me, they are condemning the people of Louisiana."Referencing Scalise's reported 1999 statement that he was "like David Duke without the baggage," Duke said the congressman "agreed with all of my ideas, but my God, you got to be able to get elected."
