SAVE A WHALE, DRIVE A SUBURBAN (via Bryan Francoeur):
Gray whale births rebounding on Pacific Coast (AP, 6/30/06)

Might explain why the Japanese are all in favor of global warming, that is, assuming it exists.
(Gotta admit that Kyoto maneuver was pretty cute.)
Posted by: Barry Meislin at June 30, 2006 11:18 AMNope, they mean despite. Cooler waters lead to more of the small marine organisms that these whales filter-feed on.
Posted by: rkb at June 30, 2006 1:18 PMHow much could the water have warmed realistically? 2 degrees, 1, 1/10 of a degree?
The temperature in the ocean decreases as one descends, so why can't aquatic creatures just descend 10 feet if they want water that is a smidgion cooler? So basically this article is just an excuse to continue the man-made global warming doom-and-gloom meme.
Lebeaux;
Because sunlight intensity drops off very sharply in water, and the creatures at the bottom of the food chain run on sunlight.
