US politician praises North Korea (BBC, 10/22/05)

North Korea is committed to dismantling its nuclear weapons programme, an unofficial US envoy has said, after a visit to the capital Pyongyang.

Bill Richardson said he was "very pleased" with North Korea's willingness to make progress in six-nation talks.

It'll be especially fun to watch Hillary Clinton drape her husband's failed North Korea policy around Mr. Richardson's neck in the primaries.

This seems a particulary stupid statement by Richardson as almost nobody, not even Ted Kennedy, are backing the NK. Then again Richardson was involved with Clinton's NK policy so he would need to defend it.

And yes Hillary will waste no time going after Richardson on this if necessary in order to get the nomination. Or she could give him a pass on this due to a) Bill's history, and b) if she's thinking of Richardson as VP and doesn't want to rough him up too badly.

Richardson has been her vice-presidential choice from day one just because he's such a willing lap dog. If she passes too many of Clinton's boo boos on to him, he'll worthless as a running mate.

Oh, what's a girl to do?

They can't carry NM anyway and if they need Richardson to appeal to Latinos they're done as a party.

Ticket balancing for geographic purposes died with Cheney's selection of Cheney as Bush's VP. She needs someone who can be tarted up to look like he/she/it is a moderate, and Bill Richardson, as a governor who's stayed out of the Beltway battles since 2000, is a perfect fit for the costume St.Hillary! has prepared for her VP.

Few candidates will care so much more about governing than politics that they'll pick a Gore or Cheney.
