JOIN THE GOP AND GET TO BE A MASTER:
Harry Belafonte Calls Black Republicans 'Tyrants' (Marc Morano, August 08, 2005, CNSNews.com)
Celebrity activist Harry Belafonte referred to prominent African-American officials in the Bush administration as "black tyrants" at a weekend march, and he also compared the administration to Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany.
Maybe I'm missing something, but blacks getting to be the tyrants instead of the put upon would seem to be progress. Thank the Republicans.

Meanwhile, the overseers are cracking the whip on the Democratic plantation, Union Leaders Denounce 2 Who Voted for Cafta (NICHOLAS CONFESSORE, 8/08/05, NY Times)
The roiling debate over the narrow vote in the House of Representatives to approve the Central American Free Trade Agreement rippled back to New York City yesterday, as a broad coalition of labor unions and allied groups assailed two congressmen, Gregory W. Meeks and Edolphus Towns, for supporting the bill."This vote that took place last week is not a yes vote for Cafta; it is a no vote for good-paying American jobs," said Brian M. McLaughlin, president of the New York City Central Labor Council and a state assemblyman, at a rally on the steps of City Hall.
"To say we're disappointed is an understatement," he added, as a member of the crowd shouted, "Make 'em pay, make 'em pay!"
Fifteen House Democrats voted for the legislation, earning the faintly disreputable-sounding sobriquet "the Cafta 15" among critics of the trade agreement.
But labor leaders said they felt particularly betrayed by Mr. Meeks, of Queens, and Mr. Towns, of Brooklyn, because both had generally liberal voting records, enjoyed strong union support and faced little risk of losing re-election next year.
Surely it's a coinciodence that they singled out the black congressmen, eh?

Yes, you are missing something. Why do you think that blacks always overwhelming vote for the Democrats? Harry Belafonte just stated their view. Rationality be damned.
Posted by: AllenS at August 8, 2005 4:04 PMAllen. I too don't understand what Belafonte and Gregory are saying. All Republicans are Nazis and Black Republicans are ipso facto Nazis too.
Even for lefty moonbats, this is a stretch.
Posted by: erp at August 8, 2005 4:31 PMWhat I fail to see isn't the animus against Republicans, but rather the steadfast unchanging support of African-Americans for Democrats, despite the absence of major progress among the rank and file. Were I black, I believe the last place I would expect to assist my betterment would be the political sponsors of Jim Crow, the poll tax, Klan endorsees for office, and Southern jurisprudence in general.

Posted by: oj at August 8, 2005 4:59 PMerp,
Evidently, you do not understand. Blacks consistently vote Democrat, because they think that Republicans are the epitomy of evil. Watch and see, if any blacks repudiate what Harry Belafonte just said.

Well, let's give The Judge some credit, at least he didn't call them Nazi's.

Posted by: Luciferous at August 8, 2005 6:27 PMWe prefer to think of it as the party of slavery and the party of freedom, but I suppose we can live with the slave party and the master party.
Posted by: David Cohen at August 8, 2005 6:58 PMAllen, I do understand that Blacks and Jews both believe Republicans are the epitome of evil. What I don't understand is why?
Posted by: erp at August 8, 2005 8:24 PMErp: it's because Republicans are white.
Posted by: carter at August 8, 2005 10:35 PMAs opposed to the Democrats?
Posted by: David Cohen at August 8, 2005 11:17 PMThis is a hard teaching. Those who feel estranged and alienated from civil society, and who see themselves aggreived by it, are drawn to the party of big government. The dream is to seize control of the apparatus of state coercion and use it to lash out against majority society.
These people don't really think that we are Nazis; they feel that we are Americans and to their sense of victimhood that is at least as bad.

Seems to me that Harry B. has a terrific inferiority complex.
Posted by: jim hamlen at August 9, 2005 12:30 PMLou: Its not nearly that abstract. The Jews arrived in the eastern big cities during the first 20 years of the previous century and joined the Big City machines (all D) which provided them some patronage and recognition and that made them Ds. The Italians came at the same time, but they wanted the same things the Irish had, jobs as cops firemen and priests. That set them at odds with the Ds and they became Rs.
Its all about ethnic identification and patronage, not ideology.
