Judge sentences Scott Peterson to death (Associated Press, March 16, 2005)

Judge Alfred A. Delucchi denied a defense request for a new trial before upholding the jury's recommendation that he be sentenced to death, calling the slayings of Laci and her fetus "cruel, uncaring, heartless and callous.''

"The court is satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant, Scott Lee Peterson, is guilty of first-degree murder'' and second degree, Delucchi said.

Peterson, shackled at the waist and wearing a dark suit, was escorted into court under heavy security. He will be sent to death row at San Quentin State Prison outside San Francisco, the infamous lockup that overlooks the same bay where Laci Peterson's body was discarded.

Her fetus? How about, "their son"?

Sometimes a defendant so exhibits malice and a wicked and abandoned heart that a jury convicts and condemns largely on this factor alone. I have shared courtrooms from both sides of the aisle with such monsters and have seen juries consistently follow their divination on the evil spirit possessing the individual on trial. You have to be in the room to really feel it, but Peterson came across this way even on television.

OJ. Why do you want to be in the next cell? The Wife that pissed at you?

I don't think that was a self-reference. I think he was talking about the other OJ....

Yeah right,

He'll die right after Charles Manson is executed.

Manson's sentence was commuted by the US Supreme Court.

Not that Scott has to worry about judicial execution in CA. He best watch out for the non-judicial forms, however.
