THAT'S NOT HOW YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PLAY THEIR GAME:

Same Old Bush (Dan Froomkin, February 22, 2005, Washington Post)

A reporter from the French newspaper Le Monde began a meandering question by noting that Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, on a scouting trip to Europer earlier this month, described himself as a new Rumsfeld. (That was to distinguish from the "old Rumsfeld" who had condemned European countries that refused to back the war against Iraq.)

"Same old Bush," the president interrupted.

How ripe, the Post and Le Monde as proponents of duplicity upset with the firm, coherent, consistent Bush.

To get a new Bush, the Euros had to agree not to sell NATO weapons technology to China. They didn't, so it's back to pounding Old Europe. One month of appeasement is enough.

What a setup! The reporter's got to be a real loser not to anticipate that retort.

I liked the "old Rumsfeld" but some revisions wouldn't hurt.

Same old Bush! Same old Chirac.
It's the money and the creation of a counter to American power. As with Saddam, he hasn't thought out the unintended consequences.
