Dean: New York GOP chairman must apologize or resign (MARC HUMBERT, February 16, 2005, AP)

Howard Dean, just four days into his job as Democratic National chairman, called Wednesday for New York's state Republican chairman to apologize or resign over remarks linking Democrats to a civil rights lawyer convicted of aiding terrorists.

Calling Stephen Minarik's comments "offensive," the former Vermont governor said, "The American people deserve better than this type of political character assassination."

Far from apologizing, Minarik issued a statement deriding the national chairman's comments as "the latest `Dean Scream."' [...]

Minarik touched off a firestorm on Monday by saying that in electing Dean as national party chairman on Saturday "the Democrats simply have refused to learn the lessons of the past two election cycles, and now they can be accurately called the party of Barbara Boxer, Lynne Stewart and Howard Dean."

This story can't conceivably help Democrats and extending its life and bringing it national attention is insane.

Sure - as soon as Dean apologizes for saying he hates all Republicans, that the only way Republicans could fill a hall with blacks is if they asked a hotel to send over its entire staff, for stealing the Governorship of the State of Washington, for voter fraud in Milwaukee, etc.

I'll bet the reason Hillary voted to confirm Michael Chertoff is because there is some record somewhere of her appearing with Lynne Stewart.

You can also bet that Lynne Stewart never appeared anywhere with, say, Condi Rice or Kay Bailey Hutchinson. And Howard Dean knows it.

Watch for more party switches, explicitly blamed on Howard Dean. One significant switch is all it would take for Dean to essentially become a lame duck.

Hay, we can liken you bumbs to Hitler, the Klan, the Taliban, and a host of other evil, vicious, insane, demonic, bigoted, murderous, abusive, egomaniacs and thugs, but don't you dare go slandering or making comments that might be construed by us as offensive, or we'll get mad at you and make your lives hell and throw a tantrum!
