A LOLLY-giving exercise by a Santa Claus in southern France turned sour when a group of greedy teenagers kicked him to the ground and beat him up for not handing over his sack of goodies, police said today.

Posted by: oj at December 21, 2004 5:30 PMCoal? That brought to mind my past experience of "first footing" in Edinburgh, where a lump of coal was a prerequisite. So, a "lump of coal" as a gift is not neccessarily a bad thing.

When you see street crime by under 18s in France, it is almost always committed by Arabs or Gypsies, and the Gypsy children usually engage in pickpocketing and the like. Prior to the open-door policy towards these animals, street crime was non-existent.
Also, Ales is one of the small decayed industrial towns, not unlike Youngstown, Ohio or Troy, NY or for that matter Magnitogorsk in Russia, where 'immigrants' get dumped by the French government, in an attempt to keep them out of Paris and the Cote d'Azur where the Enarques hang out.
