SIX FOOT FOUR IS DEEP ENOUGH, STOP DIGGING:

Maybe His Watch Was Set on Paris Time (georgewbush.com, 9/29/04)

Appearing on ABC's Good Morning America today, John Kerry offered yet another explanation for his trademark line "I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it" (video clip here): it was late at night, and he was tired:

It was a very inarticulate way of saying something and I had one of those moments late in the evening when I was tired in the primaries and didn't say something clearly. But it reflects the truth of the position, which is, I thought, to have the wealthiest people in America share the burden of paying for that war. It was a protest. Sometimes you have to stand up and be counted.

Just one problem: Kerry made the statement at noon. See this Washington Post article from March:

"I actually did vote for his $87 billion, before I voted against it," he told a group of veterans at a noontime appearance at Marshall University.

This is John Kerry at the peak of his fighting powers, rested and prepared for his debate with George Bush.

Pres. Bush needs to be clear on the factual details. Kerry is capable of saying anything at any time. If the president is properly prepared, Mr. Kerry will be exposed as the opportunistic bufoon that he is.

After the beating Gore took in 2000, and what has happened to Kerry over the past couple of months, it might be better for each candidate to just grunt and say yes or no. Of course, the statements Bush has been assailed on over the past 18 months have largely been proven accurate (Africa, uranium, etc.) while Kerry refuses to answer questions about his rabbit holes (Cambodia, shrapnel, Form 180, his tax returns, etc.).

We should email this article to all on our lists with the subject line "Presidents don't get to be tired"

Good God, this man is too stupid to be President. Should MoveOn's work in organizing and vote Fraud get this idiot over the top, this nation will be in serious trouble.

I always thought America was the "unscrewable pooch", but a civilization can only stand so much...

If Bush is on his game and Kerry his usual vacuous self (and his fake tan starts to run) the debate could pretty much seal it for Bush. That said BB is right - there is growing evidence of electoral fraud that might happen which the GOP needs to be mindful of and combat.

Bush just has to keep it straight, keep it simple, speaking to the viewers not to the audience or to his idiot opponent. Kerry, who apparently cannot even order an omelet in a diner without pettyfoggery, will be toast.
