Pakistan chasing fresh leads on al-Qaeda hideouts (Farhan Bokhari in Islamabad, Rohit Jaggi in London, and Guy Dinmore in Washington, August 6 2004, Financial Times)

Pakistan has uncovered fresh evidence as to where al-Qaeda leaders may be hiding along its border with Afghanistan, senior Pakistani officials said on Friday.

The information comes in part from the computer files of Mohammad Naeem Noor Khan, alias Abu Talha, a young Pakistani computer engineer allegedly involved with running an email communication system for al-Qaeda leaders. It has led investigators to focus on at least three previously undetected sites. Initial Pakistani reconnaissance suggests that 50-70 heavily armed guards are at each location, indicating the likely presence of senior al-Qaeda figures.

Nice operational security. If this is even remotely true, I sure hope that by the time Pakistani forces get to these locations they find "Uncle Sam was here" calling cards...

Osama is probably in Iran. We'll find him in 2005-6.

If you believe the more paranoid on the left, he's tied up in a burlap sack and hidden behind a horse troft somewhere near Crawford just waiting for unveiling after the final debate this fall...

John - No wonder Bush has had so many biking accidents at Crawford!

Actually, he's driving a cab in Toronto, while waiting for his asylum request to be processed.

PJ - we won't find him in Iran if Kerry is elected because he won't look.

I heard the lefty rumor that the president has Osama stashed somewhere waiting for an October surprise and thought, "Wow if he has his sh*t together that well, I definately want to keep Bush in power!" Actually, I kind of hope Osama gets found in October just to drive the conspiracy wackjobs bonkers.

My dad thinks we'll find OBL within a week.

When that happens, I suggest we start gathering spectators and hawking cheap trinkets. Yes, it's time for a PUBLIC HANGING AT GROUND ZERO!!!
