IT'S GOOD TO BE THE KING:

President, veteran Mariner exchange autographed balls (Associated Press, August 13, 2004)

President Bush and Seattle Mariners designated hitter Edgar Martinez exchanged signed baseballs Friday.

"We talked about all the years I beat on the Rangers," Martinez told reporters before the Mariners' played the New York Yankees at Safeco Field.

Bush is a former managing partner of the Texas Rangers.

Mariners president Chuck Armstrong, who told Martinez that the president wanted to see him during his Seattle visit, accompanied the player to Boeing Field, a general aviation airport in Seattle, to greet Bush.


Edwin Hernandez is also one of Senator Kerry's favorite players.

And if given the chance, I'm sure Sen. Kerry would tell everyone that Boeing Field is one of his favorite major league ballparks.

It's closer than the media will tell us - and Bush wants to help George Nethercutt beat Patty "Day-Care Osama Mama" Murray.

Besides, according to RedState, Kerry has spend $3.3 million there this year - maybe now he will have to spend more.

Don't forget the governor's race, which looks even better for R's than the senate.

It's good to know that Bush has good taste in baseball players. Despite that whole "Texas Rangers" thing.

Charlie Cook today said $9.1 million has been spent by Bush & Kerry so far in Washington on TV ads, making it the 11th biggest state in terms of campaign expenditures. It's in play.
