OUTFOXED:

CNN GIVES CHRISTIANE 'PRIVATE' DRESS DOWN (NY Post, September 16, 2003)

CNN news chief Jim Walton had a "private converation" with reporter Christiane Amanpour after she accused her own network of being "intimidated" in its coverage of the Iraqi war. [...]

"I think the press was muzzled, and I think the press self-muzzled," she said. "I'm sorry to say that, but certainly television and, perhaps, to a certain extent, my station, was intimidated by the administration and its foot soldiers at Fox News." [...]

A Fox News spokeswonman said: "It's better to be viewed as a foot soldier for Bush than spokeswoman for al-Qaeda."

She loses that exchange, eh?

It's not clear to me what Amanpour is claiming.

How does Bush intimidate CNN? How does Fox News for that matter?

It seems she's gotten her presidents wrong. (The John F. Burns piece you posted below immediately comes to mind....)

It is amusing when the press, members of which would give their firstborn to interview Saddam Hussein, Kim Jong-Il, Robert Mugabe, Fidel Castro, not to mention Osama or Mullah Omar, say they are intimidated by little 'ol George Bush. They can't have it both ways, and Roger Ailes knows it. CNN doesn't, which is why they are the toady network. And Christine Amanpour seems to exemplify that in more ways than one.

Considering what we've learned from CNN's own head on how they compromised their reporting to keep people like Christiane in Baghdad, it's facinating how she can only talk about how the evil Bush Regime and its Ministry of Truth called Fox News forced her to compromise her reporting.

What jokes, as both persons and as a professional journalists, most TV talking-faces have become.

What they all said - and in light of these remarks by John Burns of the New York Times yesterday, this kind of idiocy shines even brighter.
