This Dynasty Stuff (MAUREEN DOWD, May 1, 2002, NY Times)
Great news for the two remaining Maureen Dowd fans; her column today actually makes a valid point. It's hard to find, because it's the last sentence and by then nearly all readers will have given up, but after a series of pointless and strangely vituperative digs at the Bush family, she arrives at the following :
By working more closely with the Saudi dynasty, this president may be getting closer to his dynasty's avenging dream of toppling Saddam.

I believe in the press they call this burying her own lead. But still, full credit for realizing, while others are wingeing about how the Arabs are using President Bush, that it is in fact he who is using them to achieve his own purposes. Posted by Orrin Judd at May 2, 2002 7:26 AM
