SHE'S BACK:

Moseley Braun may be planning mayoral run (FRAN SPIELMAN, August 16, 2005, Chicago Sun-Times)

Is former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun (D-Ill.) laying the groundwork to run for mayor in 2007 -- either against Mayor Daley or if mounting corruption scandals cause Daley to walk away?

If she isn't, why did her brother -- a Chicago Police sergeant -- call the Fraternal Order of Police and ask about the timing of the FOP's mayoral endorsement?

An FOP official said Monday that Joe Braun, the former senator's brother, placed the call and told FOP officials in no uncertain terms that his sister would be a candidate for mayor.

There's a prospect that'll get him the GOP nod.

I've been in an "Anybody But Daley" mood but this gave me pause when I heard about it. There is a growing feeling about the city that Maggie is not doing well and that will be his out for not running again.

Braun has no chance of being mayor. She was an embarassing Senator. Not even the black community was impressed with her. This is about on par with the theory that Marilyn Quayle would make a good candidate for AZ governor.

What on earth did Marilyn Quayle do to be compared with Braun?

I haven't heard anything about her in a long time, but what I rembered was a smart, well spoken lawyer who probably would be a very good governor of Arizona or any other state.

Marily Quayle is no dupe. She'd be better than McCain.

Here is a scenario. Braun runs against Bailey in the primary and beats him on a straight racial vote. Dailey goes over to the Republican party and wins the general election.
