It's not clever to send too many texts and e-mails (ALASTAIR JAMIESON, 4/22/05, The Scotsman)

CONSTANT text messaging and e-mailing causes a reduction in mental capability equivalent to the loss of ten IQ points, according to research.

Tapping away on a mobile phone or computer keypad or checking messages on a handheld gadget temporarily reduces the performance of the brain, according to the study into the effects of "infomania".

Tell us about it. Try answering 60,000 comments from: soccer fans; nativists; auto freaks; fatherles; Stalinists; Darwinists; and folks who think Julia and Eric Roberts are two different people. You can feel the gray matter ooze out your ears...

Try working with one of these people who feel the need to make every e-mail they send Super Priority One. My policy on that is that anyone who sends me a red-letter e-mail goes to the bottom of the priority list.

Come now, Governor, what was the first lesson I taught you?

Posted by: oj at April 22, 2005 9:26 AM

Uh, Eric and Julia Roberts are the same people?

Posted by: Governor Breck at April 22, 2005 9:44 AM

That was the the Fifth. The first is never read an e-mail that comes from anyone in the company.

as curious evidence mounts, i am beginning to doubt that eric and julia are different people. why would they use a body double for julia, in "Pretty Woman" ? this leads me to believe that Eric is real, and julia is his alter ego. and why haven't they ever been in a movie together ?

You don't like reading our comments OJ? But what else are us poor married with kids types supposed to do for fun?

You left out Saul Bellow fanatics.

And hey don't lump us soccer fans in with those damned nativists.

AWW: As an old married man (25 years this week and no parole in sight) allow me to remind you that you are the only outlet for your thoughts or your sex life.

So if you only posted, say, five times a day instead of thirty, what would your IQ be?
