19 YEARS LEAVES QUITE A PAPER TRAIL (via John Resnick):
AP Exclusive: Kerry Blocked Law, Drew Cash (JOHN SOLOMON, 2/04/04, AP)
A Senate colleague was trying to close a loophole that allowed a major insurer to divert millions of federal dollars from the nation's most expensive construction project. John Kerry stepped in and blocked the legislation.Over the next two years, the insurer, American International Group (AIG), paid Kerry's way on a trip to Vermont and donated at least $30,000 to a tax-exempt group Kerry used to set up his presidential campaign. Company executives donated $18,000 to his Senate and presidential campaigns. [...]
The documents obtained by AP provide a window into Kerry's involvement in a two-decade-old highway and tunnel construction project in his home state of Massachusetts. Known as the "Big Dig," it had become infamous for its multibillion dollar cost overruns.
Those Big Dig stories will tie in well with the mess at the Democratic convention... Posted by Orrin Judd at February 4, 2004 09:53 PM
How about removing the deductability of real estate, as part of tax reform; while having
your Senate Campaign Treasurer, be a Real
Estate dependent S & L. Or investigating
BCCI, while same treasurer, is South East
front man for same financial concern; the
Saudi Ghaith Pharaon. Or investigating illegal
drugs while being one of the only campaigns
to have received money, from a drug money
launderer
Don't forget the pesky Indonesians and Chinese, and their contributions. Too bad Janet Reno didn't want to investigate a Chinese PLA colonel who was giving money to American politicians.
